Dealing with Giants in They Are Billions

This is a guide on how to deal with Giants in They Are Billions. Giants are one of the first boss-like enemies you'll encounter in Survival Games. They are very tough enemies with 10,000 Health Points and they can wreak havoc in your colony if you're unprepared, luckily, this is what this guide is for.

Thankfully, Giants will be marked in your map and you'll know at all times where they are.

Experiment

Here I'm gonna try different setups and see which one fares better against the giant and you can decide which one's best for you. First, let's look at what we'll be using to try and hold off the Giant.

We'll match different numbers of units in 8 towers placed horizontally and 3/4 layers of Stone Walls to see how they do against the Giant.

32 Snipers

The 32 Snipers worked exceptionally well. They managed to kill the Giant before it destroyed the second wall. It must have lasted around 8 seconds.

The aftermath:

32 Soldiers

The soldiers alone managed to kill the Giant before it got to them, but barely. One of the towers was out of range so this is only the damage from 28 soldiers and there were no walls between the Giant and the Soldiers left.

The aftermath:

16 Snipers

This time I matched 16 Snipers and 4 layers of Stone Walls against the Giant, and considering it's half the number of Snipers since the previous try, they performed quite well. The Giant was able to go through 3 layers of stone before it died. It barely broke through so I'm guessing we're close to the sweet spot needed to get rid of the Giant.

The aftermath:

8 Snipers, 8 Soldiers

To simulate a more realistic scenario, this time I matched 8 Soldiers on towers and 8 Snipers on the ground and 4 layers of Stone Walls. At first, the Snipers weren't shooting the Giant and I had to manually select them to attack the Giant. Once they positioned, they started shooting at the Giant. It was quickly breaking through the walls, but then it got distracted with one of the walls to its side and it managed to get through the first 3 layers.

Senjō no Valkyria 3: Unrecorded Chronicles, commonly referred to as Valkyria Chronicles III outside Japan, is a tactical role-playing video game co-developed by Sega and Media.Vision for the PlayStation Portable. Released in January 2011 in Japan, it is the third game in the Valkyria Chronicles series. Valkyria chronicles 3 characters. Valkyria Chronicles 3 Characters. Aika Thompson/VC3. Alfons Auclair. Annika Alcott. Antonio Jose Rodriguez. Audrey Gassenarl.

The aftermath:

8 Snipers, 8 Soldiers, 1 Executor

Surprisingly, the Executor didn't make much of a difference and this time the Giant didn't get distracted with side walls and managed to break through the 4 layers of Stone Walls, but it died before it got the chance to hit any of the snipers on the ground.

The aftermath:

8 Snipers, 1 Titan

This time the Snipers were on towers and they started shooting before the Giant arrived, the Titan did as well. Even so, the Giant managed to break 3 layers of Stone Walls.

The aftermath:

How many units to kill a giant with 2 layers of Stone Walls

This is just a list of groups of units that can kill a Giant with only 2 layers of Stones. Some notes before you use any of these configurations yourself: first of all, Giants have AoE damage, even though they're melee. They'll hit 2 tiles at a time, meaning your Stone Walls shouldn't be next to each other. There should be a space of at least one tile between them, same goes for your towers. Towers shouldn't be next to the last layer of defence or they'll be hit by the Giant.

You cannot use Rangers to bait and 'kite' Giants because they're just as fast as Rangers. As soon as the hit animation is triggered, that means the unit is taking damage and it only takes one hit from the Giant to kill a Ranger. However, you can use a Mutant for this purpose. Mutants are faster than Rangers and Giants and they can run in circles while your other units kill them. Your Mutant will most likely take a few hits, but the Mutant has 2000 HP and it can take some hits.
