Jungle Hunt Arcade Game
I loved Jungle Hunt in the arcade, one of the proudest achievements ever was making it to the boulder stage in this one. Suffice to say, I was not a very good arcade game player. You started out in this vine swinging level, then you would progress to an alligator infested river, then came the boulders and finally you had to make your way past the angry villagers to save your girlfriend or whatever. When I had a chance to get this one on the Atari 2600 I of course got it! And like so many times after playing the arcade game, then playing it on the Atari I was disappointed.
Very disappointed. The graphics are of course so bad, but it is also so much easier. Seriously, you could not even use this game to improve your arcade skills so one could progress further than ever thought imaginable.
Jungle Hunt is a one- or two-player side-scrolling arcade platform game produced and released by Taito in 1982. It was also known as Jungle King in early releases. The player controls a jungle explorer who sports a pith helmet and a safari suit.
No, instead you get a vague representation of what the stuff looked like at the arcade and the things just are no where near as difficult to progress. Then again, I do not think the arcade was that hard, it was just that I was an extremely young gamer at the time and just was not that good. I love katamari. This game was not very good on the Atari, but it was a fun coin eater.

The explorer can attack the crocodiles from below with his knife, unless their mouths are open. The explorer must return to the surface periodically to breathe, where he cannot attack the crocodiles. Bubbles periodically rise from the bottom of the river, which can trap the explorer and carry him to the surface, potentially hitting crocodiles on the way.Scene 3 involves the explorer dodging various-sized boulders rolling and bouncing towards him as he runs up the side of a volcano. Timing is critical as the differently sized boulders bounce at different speeds and heights, and the explorer can be trapped between them.In the final scene, the explorer must evade cannibals while attempting to get to a woman being lowered into a flaming cauldron.
After the player rescues the woman, the word 'Congratulations!' Appears, which is then followed by a message saying 'I Love You!!!'
